Temporary setup

Temporary Setup

As it will be about 6 months or so before we are ready to put the solid back on the truck we decided to put the canvas back (that came with it) on and deck it out as comfortable as possible so that we could start enjoying the truck  straight away.

First we added two 180 amp hour deep cycle batteries and hooked them up to the 24v system of the truck so that they will charge when we are driving but be isolated when we are not. How long we will get out of these two batteries is yet to be tested. We hope to run the following for 2 to 3 days before an (estimated 2 hour) drive is needed to fully recharge:

First beach test

First Beach TestWe took the Mog for her first beach test, went down to Tim’ Thicket just south of Mandurah WA and also down at Belvedere Beach near Bunbury WA.

First we tried driving without letting the tyres down at all, they are currently set on 60psi. We were able to drive through the sand easily at this pressure only problem we had is we could not get into the second gear box as there the truck slowed to quickly in the sand so it could not  keep up enough speed while changing the gears.

The very first Mog Blog

The MogYou drag yourself out of bed in the morning and start going about your day, you have breaky, get ready for work and just generally go about your business. And then one day your doing just that not knowing that this day something is going to happen that is going to change everything.  Well Wednesday July 7th 2010 was one of those days, it started out as a normal old Wednesday and then at 12.18pm something happened….. our Unimog found us.

We had spotted a Unimog for sale over east back in March and although we never followed up on this Unimog the guy kept our number and when he imported 5 Unimogs from New Zealand he emailed us to see if we were interested in purchasing one (onya Ben you’re a legend).
